AFTER the planned retrenchment of 124 South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) workers was placed on hold last week, the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) has indicated that at least 42 of the affected workers have been terminated.
Though retrenchment letters delivered to the mostly maintenance workers across the SWRHA last Friday, were "called off" after the intervention of the union, southern president Jason Gordon on Tuesday, confirmed that the figure had been reduced to 42. These 42, he said, have already been terminated.
He said that the SWRHA's Human Resource department had held back on the termination of at least 80.
