Former Energy Minister and MP for POS North/St Anns West Stuart Young has warned that there could be "grave and dire consequences" if Heritage Petroleum and Paria Fuel Trading Limited are not recognised in the assignment of responsibilities which were issued for gazetting.
In a statement in Facebook Young said that having perused the “Gazette Notice” with “Directions” assigning responsibility to Ministers dated May 13, 2025, he felt obligated to point out a matter that can have grave and dire consequences to Trinidad and Tobago.
He said restructuring of Petrotrin resulted in the formation of new companies and these companies are responsible for the refinancing of Petrotrin’s historical debt including the US$850 million bond that was due in August 2019 as well as a US$750 million bond.
