TOBAGO has launched a new universal child benefit which will provide parents with $500 per month for every child for the first five years of the child’s life, with payments being retroactive to January 1, 2026.
The benefit forms part of a wider package of social services being rolled out by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), alongside the introduction of the new Tobago ID digital platform.
In a Facebook video post on Tuesday, Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary Farley Augustine said the grant was one of the initiatives promised during the election campaign and was intended to provide additional financial support to families.
