Af­ter weeks as leader-in-wait­ing, Burn­ham of­fi­cial­ly be­came prime min­is­ter on Mon­day dur­ing a meet­ing with King Charles III at Buck­ing­ham Palace.

He suc­ceed­ed Keir Starmer, on a day when Britain’s po­lit­i­cal tur­bu­lence gave way, at least tem­porar­i­ly, to smooth chore­og­ra­phy.
