Turkish authorities have arrested the head of the countryâs football refereeing body, his deputy, and five other individuals as part of efforts to ârestore the public trust in footballâ, the countryâs justice minister said yesterday.
Akın GĂŒrlek said the investigation centres on âallegations of irregularityâ, including âinterference in referee classification, assignments, scoring, and appointment processes, as well as rule examinations.â
He did not provide further details.
