Government has launched a new initiative aimed at bringing food production closer to communities while strengthening food security across Trinidad and Tobago.
The Public Fruit and Food Orchards Initiative was officially launched on Thursday at Palmiste Park in San Fernando, with Agriculture Minister Ravi Ratiram describing it as a programme that will convert underutilised public spaces into productive community orchards, giving residents access to fresh fruits while promoting environmental stewardship and agricultural education.
He said the initiative is not just about planting trees, but about an idea.
