(Kaieteur News) – Commissioner of Information Charles Ramson Sr. appears to have shrugged off a recent High Court ruling on his statutory responsibilities, describing Justice Nicola Pierre as “a puisne Judge” and suggesting that applicants await “final judicial directions” before he determines their requests for information.
In a letter dated October 14, 2026, addressed to environmental activist Danuta Radzik, Ramson invoked the ongoing judicial review process to justify his position, despite Justice Pierre’s September 28 ruling that he had breached the Access to Information Act 2011 by failing to determine three requests submitted by Attorney-at-Law Christopher Ram.
The Commissioner’s response raises fresh questions about his willingness to discharge the responsibilities of his office, particularly as Radzik and other members of civil society have been waiting almost a year for documents relating to the Government’s Gas-to-Energy project and the management of hazardous waste from offshore oil operations.
