KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prices at Kingston’s Coronation Market are easing this week, with vendors reporting lower costs for several popular items despite ongoing drought conditions affecting farmers across multiple parishes.
While some produce, such as bananas ($1,200 per dozen) are still fetching higher prices, shoppers can expect lower prices on a range of goods including tomato at $100 per pound, onion ($200), Scotch bonnet pepper ($200), Irish potato ($180) and sweet potato ($150).
This week’s episode also features award-winning gospel artiste Kevin Downswell, who joins host Carlysia Ramdeen at the market to share market shopping tips ahead of his pre-album launch worship experience on Sunday, July 19, at the Portmore New Testament Church of God.
