Tridents ready for local leg of CPL

The Barbados Tridents are ready to bring the CPL excitement back to Kensington Oval, with eight Republic Bank CPL matches set to be played at the venue over nine action-packed days from September 5. Tridents Chief Operating Officer John Mumby said the franchise was delighted to return home as the island prepares for a crucial stretch of the tournament. “As a franchise, we’re delighted to be coming back to Barbados. Both our men’s and women’s teams are coming home, which we are really excited for,” Mumby said.

“We’re going to have eight games during an action-packed nine days at Kensington Oval, so we’re looking forward to the stadium being loud and proud in the weeks to come.” Mumby made the comments during an interaction with Minister of Sport Charles Griffith at Kensington Oval on Wednesday. Griffith said Barbados was proud to once again host CPL cricket, including the tournament final on September 20. “As you know, cricket is in our DNA and the fact that we have the Tridents playing at home, I want to encourage all of Barbados to come out and support our team.

“I’m expecting that over the next couple of days when we are playing here, the stands will be filled and people will bring the family to the mecca, to ensure that we have, as John was saying, a loud and proud event here.”
