THE death sentence was read to a Laventille man on Tuesday after he was found guilty of murdering a 16-year-old boy following an argument in Belmont more than 17 years ago.
"For the offence of murder, Mr Simba Dickson, the sentence of the court upon you is that you shall be taken from this place to a lawful prison and thence to a place of execution and that you suffer death by hanging. May the Lord have mercy on your soul."
So stated Justice Maria Busby Earle-Caddle after a 12-member jury found Dickson, of St Barb's, Laventille, guilty at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain, after just about one hour of deliberation.
