Fuelled by public persuasion and the support of thousands, including children, who have been requesting, singing, dancing and jumping to Bunji Garlin’s 2026 hit “Still A Road Man” over the past two weeks, the artiste finally registered the song yesterday for the Road March competition.
In an interview with the Express about the reason for the change of heart, Bunji responded while organising at the venue for his “Hard Fete” event in the Queen’s Park Savannah.
He said: “It was done for a combination of reasons: from the constant calls from the people and queries from the media, to my daughter Syri and her friends loving the song and asking me constantly if I would register it; to my wife, Fay and her constant support and experienced ear to the ground and knowledge of what the people want on the road and then, also, I’ve been bombarded by so many youths with their own social media accounts messaging me ‘Uncle B, Uncle B’ - well I am Uncle - we love the song, will you please register it, and today while organising for Hard Fete both Fay and I said the vibe feeling good. So she ask me what I think, I asked her what she thinks and we both said leh we do what we think is right and I just signed the form right over there.”
