On this Emancipation Day, the Alliance For Change (AFC) joins all Guyanese in honouring the courage, resilience, sacrifice and enduring legacy of our African ancestors, whose struggle against the brutal institution of slavery helped shape the foundation of our nation.
Emancipation is more than a historical milestone. It is a continuing call to uphold the principles of freedom, justice, equality and human dignity. The sacrifices made by those who came before us impose upon every generation the responsibility to build a society where opportunity is available to all, where every citizen is treated with respect, and where no community is left behind.
As we celebrate the rich cultural heritage, traditions and achievements of Afro-Guyanese, we also acknowledge the invaluable contributions they have madeโand continue to makeโ alongside our brothers and sisters of other ethnicities, to Guyanaโs development in public service, business, education, security, culture, sports, agriculture, security and every sphere of national life.
