Pan TrinÂbaÂgo has exÂtendÂed greetÂings to muÂsiÂcians worldÂwide in recogÂniÂtion of World MuÂsic Day, obÂserved anÂnuÂalÂly on June 21. The orÂganÂiÂsaÂtion acÂknowlÂedged the globÂal celÂeÂbraÂtion of muÂsic and paid tribÂute to steelÂband muÂsiÂcians in Trinidad and ToÂbaÂgo.
This year’s obÂserÂvance folÂlows the reÂcent pasÂsage of the NaÂtionÂal MuÂsiÂcal InÂstruÂment Act, 2024, which ofÂfiÂcialÂly deÂclares the SteelÂpan as the naÂtionÂal muÂsiÂcal inÂstruÂment of Trinidad and ToÂbaÂgo. The legÂisÂlaÂtion conÂfirms the inÂstruÂment’s longÂstandÂing role as a naÂtionÂal symÂbol of idenÂtiÂty and uniÂty.
PresÂiÂdent of Pan TrinÂbaÂgo BevÂerÂley RamÂsey-Moore isÂsued a stateÂment on the ocÂcaÂsion. She highÂlightÂed the need for conÂtinÂued adÂvoÂcaÂcy and opÂporÂtuÂniÂties to adÂvance SteelÂpan and SteelÂband muÂsic across varÂiÂous platÂforms.
