Trinidad and Tobago has been officially removed from the European Union’s list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, following a decision taken on February 17 by the European Union’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council.
In a media statement responding to the development, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the country’s delisting represents a major step forward in restoring international confidence and credibility.
“Trinidad and Tobago is no longer blacklisted. Our country has officially been removed from the European Union’s list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, a designation applied to countries that fail to meet international standards for tax transparency. This is a major step forward,” the Prime Minister said.
