Special Branch chief grilled over alleged involvement with U.S. Marshal, missing pocket book entries

(Kaieteur News) – The ongoing extradition proceedings involving prominent Guyanese businessman Nazar Mohamed and his son, Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed, took another turn on Tuesday as head of the special branch, Assistant Commissioner Prem Narine, faced cross-examination regarding his operational ties with United States Marshal Sandy Roa and the absence of written records.

Testifying before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, Narine defended the execution of arrest warrants on October 31, 2025, against the duo, who are wanted by federal authorities in the United States on charges of wire and mail fraud, and money laundering.

Defence Counsel Siand Dhurjon subjected the special branch head to questioning concerning mandatory documentation under Police Standing Order 28(4)(f), which obligates officers to make contemporaneous notes during arrests.
