A number of Jamaicans were among the winners at last weekend’s National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Shaquane Gordon of Odessa College, Shadane Smith and Jayval Wright of Hinds Community College and Aaron McKenzie of New Mexico Junior College were among the winners at the three-day championships.
Shadane Smith led a Jamaican clean sweep of the top three places in the men’s 400m hurdles, winning in a personal best 50.19 seconds, beating defending champion Richard Hall of Central Arizona, who ran 50.42 seconds, with Barrain Smith of Odessa third in 51.23 seconds.
