A ‘PH’ taxi driver from Central Trinidad will have to serve almost ten years in prison for an offence he was found guilty of committing 25 years ago, after the Court of Appeal yesterday upheld his convictions for kidnapping, false imprisonment, and robbery with aggravation.
In an oral decision at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain, the appellate panel dismissed Anderson Bonaparte’s challenge to the guilty verdicts that were returned by a nine-member jury in late 2022.
This came after Justices Charmaine Pemberton, Gillian Lucky, and Vasheist Kokaram found no fault in the conduct of the trial or the directions given to the jury by the presiding judge.
