The murder case against a man accused of killing his 80-year-old mother took another turn on Tuesday after an Italian interpreter was brought before the court to help him understand the proceedings.

Paolo Grant, 53, is charged with the murder of his mother, Jasmine Grant, otherwise called "Sister Grant," an 80-year-old retiree of Cheesefield District, St Catherine.

When the matter came up for mention on July 28, the court was informed that an Italian interpreter had been secured after the defence raised concerns that proper instructions could not be obtained from Grant, who was born and raised in Italy.
