Antigua and Barbuda consumers to pay more for fuel amid ongoing US-Iran war

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Prime Minister Gaston Browne has acknowledged that the ongoing war between the United States and Iran is having an impact on energy prices on the global market as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to increase fuel prices this week.

Browne, speaking on his weekly radio programme, also said that his administration cannot continue to subsidise the price of the commodity as it had been doing for several months in the past.

“We have not only been subsidising the cost of fuel at the pump, but we have also been paying West Indies Oil Company rather than collecting tax revenues from the company,” Browne told radio listeners.
