The Caribbean Com­mu­ni­ty has is­sued a state­ment on a procla­ma­tion by the Gov­ern­ment of the Unit­ed States which places en­try re­stric­tions on na­tion­als of An­tigua and Bar­bu­da and the Com­mon­wealth of Do­mini­ca.

Cari­com said it while ac­cepts the right of states to set rules for en­try at bor­ders, it said the ac­tion oc­curred with­out con­sul­ta­tion with the gov­ern­ments af­fect­ed. Cari­com said the ac­tion may af­fect trav­el, ex­changes among peo­ple, and out­comes for cit­i­zens and economies in both states. The re­gion­al body al­so raised ques­tions on visas is­sued be­fore 1 Jan­u­ary 2026 and said guid­ance is need­ed.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, they called for talks be­tween the Unit­ed States and the gov­ern­ments of An­tigua and Bar­bu­da and Do­mini­ca. The Bu­reau said talks should clar­i­fy the scope of the procla­ma­tion and ad­dress is­sues raised by the gov­ern­ments and cit­i­zens. The Bu­reau linked the call to re­la­tions be­tween the Unit­ed States of Amer­i­ca and the Caribbean Com­mu­ni­ty.
