Village mourns beloved 'Bill' after fatal fire

A Barrackpore grandfather died at the hospital after he was burned in a fire in his home in the early hours of Friday.

Bridgenath Heeraman, 70, also known as “Sookhoo”, and “Bill”, died about an hour after he was rescued by neighbours from his burning house.

Heeraman, a father of three and grandfather of one, retired from the Ministry of Works and Transport, where he held the position of foreman.
