‘10% salary increase being eroded by NI payments, taxes’

Pub­lic ser­vants are in­creas­ing­ly ques­tion­ing how much they will ac­tu­al­ly gain from the 10 per cent salary ad­just­ment grant­ed in De­cem­ber 2025, as high­er Na­tion­al In­sur­ance con­tri­bu­tions, tax pay­ments and a pro­posed 40-60 struc­ture for back­pay are ex­pect­ed to re­duce the set­tle­ment’s val­ue.

Two work­ers in the Pub­lic Ser­vices As­so­ci­a­tion (PSA) and two in the Na­tion­al Union of Gov­ern­ment and Fed­er­at­ed Work­ers (NUGFW), spoke to Busi­ness Guardian on con­di­tion that their names and iden­ti­fy­ing de­tails were with­held be­cause they are not au­tho­rised to speak pub­licly, said work­ers were grow­ing frus­trat­ed.
