Patrons attending the Origins Guyana Fashion Festival are commending the event for celebrating local fashion, culture and entrepreneurship while providing a valuable platform for Guyanese designers and artisans to showcase their talent.
Hosted at the Railway Courtyard, the three-day festival has drawn scores of visitors eager to explore locally made clothing, jewellery, accessories and other creative products, as the Government continues to advance the country’s orange economy.
Patron Jeremiah Hopkinson described the festival as a welcoming space that brings creatives and the public together. “I can definitely tell that there are a lot of amazing people here that I would definitely want to connect with,” he told the Department of Public Information (DPI) on Saturday. Hopkinson also encouraged more Guyanese to support local cultural events. “We need to embrace our culture more…I love to dress up and come out, so definitely if we have more events like this, you might see more of me,” he added. Another patron, Arrona Fraser, said the festival has given local designers the exposure they deserved.
