PRESIDENT of the Trinidad and Tobago National Nursing Association Idi Stuart said the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA), which the association has been in an ongoing impasse over salaries and working conditions, hiring new nurses would only be a ‘drop in the bucket’.
Speaking last night in a telephone interview, Stuart said that information coming to the association indicates that a few nurses were hired; however, he could not give a specific number. He explained that 50 nurses had been interviewed.
“Over the weekend, they fast-tracked the process. From what we understand, they called them in to work immediately while the situation was ongoing, and only a few of those persons received contracts in hand,” he said.
