A 42-year-old civil engineer was kidnapped at gunpoint, beaten and robbed of more than $29,000 in jewellery and personal belongings after stopping to inspect his vehicle along the Southern Main Road in Claxton Bay on Thursday afternoon.
Police said the victim was driving his white Toyota Hilux south along the Southern Main Road around 2 p.m. when he heard a noise coming from the vehicle.
After stopping near the Claxton Bay Fishing Facility to investigate, he was approached by two men, one of whom pointed a firearm at him and ordered him into a white pirogue waiting in the nearby bay.
