The state-owned Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has continued its financial recovery, recording a 24 per cent increase in revenue to $1.78 billion for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Speaking at Wednesday’s post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, Transport Minister Daryl Vaz said the improvements came as the Government worked to expand services and strengthen the public transportation system.
“Comparing the last two financial years, JUTC revenue increased by approximately 24 per cent, moving from $1.4 billion in 2024-2025 [financial year] to $1.78 billion in 2025-2026. This represents additional $343 million in revenue. For the first six months of the current financial year, April to September 26, the company has already generated approximately $1.3 billion in revenue,” he said.
