Police are investigating a larceny from a dwelling in Dow Village South, Oropouche, after a man discovered that items, including two pet parrots, had been stolen from his home late Thursday night.
The victim, Gary Martin, 39, told police that he had secured a Stihl brush cutter valued at $1,800, a silver metal wheelbarrow valued at $800, and two Amazon parrots valued at $1,200 in a locked, enclosed area downstairs. He then retired to the upstairs of his home around 10:30 p.m.
Around 11:50 p.m., Martin was awakened by barking dogs. Looking through his bedroom window, he observed a man he recognized as a close relative standing about 20 feet away in the car park area of S.M. Jaleel, pushing a wheelbarrow containing the stolen brush cutter and a cage with the parrots. When called out to, the suspect reportedly ran into nearby bushes and escaped.
