Defence Minister Wayne Sturge says the search for the body of Coast Guard officer Able Seaman (AB) Kieron Simon will continue, with assistance from international partners, including Japan and the United States.
Several unsuccessful attempts have been made to recover Simon’s remains since he went missing on February 20, 2025, when a drug-trafficking “narco-sub” sank during a boarding operation.
The vessel sank in rough seas while Simon was conducting a search. In November last year, Simon’s brother, Kelvon Simon, said he was never once contacted by members of the Government from either of the two political parties that held power since the incident occurred.
