Val Kilmer, âTop Gunâ and Batman star, dies at 65

Val Kilmer, the broodÂing, verÂsaÂtile acÂtor who played fan favourite IceÂman in âTop Gun,â donned a voÂluÂmiÂnous cape as BatÂman in âBatÂman ForÂevÂerâ and porÂtrayed Jim MorÂriÂson in âThe Doors,â has died. He was 65.
Kilmer died TuesÂday night in Los AnÂgeÂles, surÂroundÂed by famÂiÂly and friends, his daughÂter, MerÂcedes Kilmer, said in an email to The AsÂsoÂciÂatÂed Press. The Times was the first to reÂport his death on TuesÂday.
Val Kilmer died from pneuÂmoÂnia. He had reÂcovÂered afÂter a 2014 throat canÂcer diÂagÂnoÂsis that reÂquired two traÂcheotomies.
