SIX people, including two women, who were detained under ministerial preventative detention orders during the last state of emergency for allegedly conspiring to murder a prison officer, were freed by the High Court yesterday after the State failed to file an indictment in a matter.
The group had been charged with conspiring to murder the officer earlier this year, but the case collapsed when prosecutors informed the court that no indictment had been laid and no police file had been received by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
With no evidence before the court, the matter could not proceed, Master Delicia Bethelmy held during yesterday’s hearing.
