A Jamaican national, who appeared in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court on traffic violations earlier this month, has been fined and deported.
Shavar Lashane Ashley, formerly of No. 124 Husbands Gardens, St James, had pleaded guilty to all of the June 4 offences when he went back before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant last Wednesday for sentencing.
He was fined $1 000 forthwith or 12 months in prison for exceeding the speed limit and was also given a $500 forthwith fine for failing to stop at a red light with six months behind bars as the alternative if he did not pay.
