Trinidad and Tobago’s distance running fraternity was plunged into mourning following the untimely passing of top Guyanese distance runner Kelvin Johnson at the age of 46.
A familiar and formidable force on the regional circuit for over two decades, Johnson left an indelible mark on T&T’s road racing scene after making T&T his second home, leaving behind a legacy of competitive excellence, resilience, and unyielding sportsmanship.
First introduced to the local running community through veteran Guyanese coach Leslie Allen, Johnson arrived in Trinidad already established as a top-tier athlete. Over the course of more than 20 years on local soil, he consistently established himself among the country’s top five male runners, repeatedly mounting podiums across 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and marathon distances.
