The Government of Guyana, in collaboration with the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is offering a limited number of scholarships for Guyanese students to pursue postgraduate studies in Japan for the 2027/2028 academic year. The scholarship programme was announced by the Ministry of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation on its social media platforms. The available fields of study include Civil and Environmental Engineering (MEng.), Veterinary Science (MSc.), Electrical and Electronic Information Engineering (MEng.), Construction and Environmental Engineering (MEng.), Water Environmental Engineering (MSc.), and Plant Genetics and Breeding (MSc.). According to the Ministry, applicants must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application and must hold a valid Guyanese passport. Applicants are also required to possess a relevant bachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0. Interested persons are encouraged to review the full scholarship information and application requirements through the link provided by the Ministry. The deadline for the submission of applications is July 12, 2026.
