Anthony Emrold “Brother Valentino” Phillip was yesterday described as a cultural elder whose music became part of the nation’s conscience.
The tribute came from Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO) president Ainsley King yesterday, as relatives, friends, Government officials and members of the cultural fraternity gathered at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Port-of-Spain to bid farewell to the legendary calypsonian.
“Today, I stand before you to pay tribute to a man whose voice, music, message became part of the conscience of our country,” King told mourners.
