Sensational Soul (Soul Warrior – Red Gold) delivered a well-timed late surge to land Division 2 of the $1.25-million Yvonne Mattis Cup on Sunday, May 10, 2026, nosing out American Aviator by a head in the Overnight Allowance over 9 furlongs (1,800m) in 1:52.1.

Trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Dane Dawkins, he raced off the pace as Divine Force (Emelio McLean) set the fractions ahead of American Aviator (Tevin Foster). Biding his time down the backstretch, Sensational Soul began to pick up approaching the distance and was still finding when it mattered most.

Just when it looked over, Dawkins angled him out and the gelding got up in the final strides, stopping the clock at 1:52.1 with splits of 23.4, 46.2, 1:11.3, and 1:38.2.
