A planned visit to Venezuela to negotiate processing of that country’s gas in Trinidad and Tobago has been delayed by the devastating double earthquakes that struck the South American country last week.
This is the word from Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr Roodal Moonilal, who noted that engagement is still on the table.
“We were in discussions with the stakeholders on the Venezuela visit. We have a particular agreement, side agreements and so on to look at, which we are looking at. I am a signatory to something that I have to look at, but, of course, the government of Trinidad and Tobago will look at it broadly, and the Prime Minister will give further directions on that matter. Myself and Minister Sobers have been in touch with the Venezuelan Mission in Port of Spain on a fraternal and regular basis, and we expect that, either by visit there or by their visiting here, we will engage.”
