…as Council unveils new certification to recognise national programmes, emerging skills
As parents and students across the region await what can at times be an anxious moment, the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) is set to officially release the 2026 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) results today. In Guyana, the local results will be released at an event at the Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown in Kingston, Georgetown, at 13:00.
CXC on Monday announced that it is expanding its regional certification offerings with the introduction of two new product innovations, Hybrid Innovation and Proxy Innovation, designed to allow member states to develop and certify programmes tailored to their national priorities while gaining regional recognition and global acceptance. Introduced by CXC, Hybrid Innovation and Proxy Innovation are certification models designed to provide flexible pathways for recognising regional skills and national priorities. They work alongside “classical innovation,” which includes traditional examinations such as CSEC and CAPE, to better align education with economic needs. This was disclosed recently by CXC Registrar Dr Wayne Wesley, who explained how the Council is rolling out the new certification models to help more Caribbean people turn their skills into recognised qualifications. “CXC has developed what we call our Product Innovation Model, which now gives our standard classical products, which persons are used to—the CSEC, the CAPE, our associate degrees and diplomas – but now we have created two new additions to the services that we provide and that is Hybrid Innovation and Proxy Innovation. The Hybrid Innovation is simply combining products from CXC with products at the national level that are of importance to that particular country in awarding a particular qualification.”
