(Kaieteur News) – American Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole D. Theriot, has to be one unhappy puppy. Sorry, Excellency; the Americanism should be understood, taken gracefully. But Excellency Theriot has to be unhappy as the day is long. A soft, feathery ambassadorial assignment, looking after U.S. interests, only for her to collide with the PPP Govt. nightmare. It’s daily, nonstop Halloween. White-collar crimes. Crimes of alleged sexual violence. An opposition that is part-time, one-track, off-track, out-of-whack. How does an ambassador cope? Can she still expound about democracy, amidst the cascading thieveries and assorted banditries?
An ambassador has to include some substance in her cables to Washington. Not PPP rubbish that there is transparency and accountability, when neither creature is around. Not PPP Govt. trash about an anti-corruption czar, only for that role to be so sensitive that it is limited to two summoning the malefactors and forever jawboning. Blue-collar PPP Govt. crimes, white-collar PPP Govt. crimes, the U.S. ambassador can’t get her regular work done. As an American, a protest is lodged about this neglect. But, what can Excellency Theriot dispatch in her messages to DC? The PPP Govt. is democratic? The Guyana opposition represents a better alternative? The time for change is here, but that there are no candidates, but those running around like chickens without heads?
