Opposition Senator Dr Amery Browne has criticised a 50% increase in parking rates at Piarco International Airport, saying it was another example of the Government’s apparent detachment from the lived reality of citizens in this country.
Browne raised the issue during his contribution to the Senate debate on the Appropriation (Financial Year 2027) Bill, 2026, on Monday, saying the increase was another cost being placed on citizens.
He said the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago had published notice of the increased rates after the budget process in the Lower House had been completed, arguing that the measure had not been explained or addressed during the budget presentation.
