Pris­on­ers at Tetron Bar­racks and Staubles Bay in Ch­aguara­mas con­tin­ued their hunger strike for a sec­ond con­sec­u­tive day yes­ter­day.

Vow­ing to main­tain pres­sure on prison and po­lice of­fi­cials in the hope of be­ing trans­ferred back to the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison (MSP) in Mau­si­ca and the East­ern Cor­rec­tion­al Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre (ECRC) in San­ta Rosa, sev­er­al in­mates, speak­ing through their at­tor­neys, said they would con­tin­ue to refuse dai­ly meals.

Well-placed sources told Guardian Me­dia that re­fur­bish­ment work is on­go­ing at the Wayne Jack­son Build­ing at the MSP. For­mer­ly known as Build­ing 13, it is the fa­cil­i­ty where high-risk in­mates were typ­i­cal­ly housed.
