Prisoners at Tetron Barracks and Staubles Bay in Chaguaramas continued their hunger strike for a second consecutive day yesterday.
Vowing to maintain pressure on prison and police officials in the hope of being transferred back to the Maximum Security Prison (MSP) in Mausica and the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre (ECRC) in Santa Rosa, several inmates, speaking through their attorneys, said they would continue to refuse daily meals.
Well-placed sources told Guardian Media that refurbishment work is ongoing at the Wayne Jackson Building at the MSP. Formerly known as Building 13, it is the facility where high-risk inmates were typically housed.
