More fathers are taking mothers to the Family Court in a bid to gain access to their children and share financial responsibilities, according to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which says it has seen a noticeable shift in the number of men seeking legal intervention following relationship breakdowns.
The revelation came during a fatherhood forum held at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston on Sunday, where the Right Shift Foundation, in partnership with the JCF, hosted a seminar under the theme 'A Paradigm Shift' aimed at encouraging greater responsibility among fathers.
Corporal Adrian Cornwall, who is attached to the JCF's Domestic Violence Unit, said more men are now seeking guidance from the police before taking their matters to the Family Court.
