ForĀmer NaĀtionĀal SeĀcuĀriĀty MinĀisĀter and retād Brig GenĀerĀal John Sandy says he was alarmed to hear reĀcent reĀports alĀlegĀing that apĀproxĀiĀmateĀly 25,573 rounds of 5.56 amĀmuĀniĀtion were missĀing but hopes the matĀter can be setĀtled and made pubĀlic to ease the naĀtionās conĀcerns.
Sandy served as the DeĀfence Forceās Chief of DeĀfence Staff (CDS) from 2000 to 2002 and was apĀpointĀed as NaĀtionĀal SeĀcuĀriĀty MinĀisĀter in 2010 by the then PeoĀpleās PartĀnerĀship coaliĀtion govĀernĀment beĀfore he was apĀpointĀed as the perĀmaĀnent repĀreĀsenĀtaĀtive for T&T to the UnitĀed NaĀtions (UN) OfĀfice, GeneĀva, SwitzerĀland, in 2012.
AcĀcordĀing to meĀdia reĀports last week, the missĀing amĀmuĀniĀtion was reĀvealed durĀing an auĀdit at the CuĀmuĀto BarĀracks earĀliĀer in FebĀruĀary.
