HEAD of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) David Abdulah is calling on the Government to clarify the criteria by which applicants of its recently concluded National Recruitment Drive will be selected.
He questioned whether the former workers of the disbanded Community-Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP) and the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) would be allowed first opportunity for new employment during the recruitment exercise.
Last Sunday, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar launched the recruitment exercise, which sought to fill 20,000 vacancies across various government ministries. During a tour of the drive on Thursday at the National Cycling Centre in Couva, Persad-Bissessar indicated that over 110,000 applications were received. She added that the available positions also targeted low-skilled and non-skilled workers.
