At 6p.m. Trinidad and Tobago’s general election polls closed, bringing to an end the month-long campaign that tested old loyalties, birthed new political ambitions, and left the country’s future in the balance.
However, the Elections and Boundaries Commission says that if you are in line at 6p.m. you are eligible to vote, and electors are being urged to stay until they get to the ballot box.
In a few hours, the country will know if the majority voted for change under the Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s UNC, or new chapters under a PNM prime minister, Stuart Young.
