Boos erupted from the crowd as Minister of Culture and Community Development Michelle Benjamin delivered the feature address during World Steelpan Day 2025 celebrations on Monday evening.

She was booed as she mentioned the Prime Minister’s name.

Addressing hundreds of pan enthusiasts at Woodford Square in Port of Spain, Benjamin spoke during festivities that followed a street parade described as an “ancestral walk”.
