The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) is reporting a sharp increase in examination irregularities this year, with cases involving unauthorised devices, collusion, unauthorised materials and the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) among the leading violations.
Dr Nicole Manning, director of operations at CXC, said 128 irregularity cases were recorded across the Caribbean this year, up from 80 in 2025.
Speaking during the official launch of the 2026 CXC examination results in Anguilla on Tuesday, Manning said the increase was a serious concern for the regional examining body, particularly because students found guilty of examination misconduct risk having their grades cancelled or being disqualified.
