JAMAICA Football Federation (JFF) President Michael Ricketts has outlined what he considers a harsh financial reality facing the body, which is managing a tight cash-flow situation after putting significant resources into national team programmes that ultimately missed out on major qualification payouts.
International football is a high-stakes business, and Ricketts says the JFF is counting the cost of an aggressive push for global recognition that fell short on the pitch.
Failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup cost the JFF a guaranteed minimum payout of at least US$10.5 million to US$12.5 million (under J$2 billion) â a windfall tied to FIFA participation and preparation fees.
