Dominica confirms accepting Colombians under migration programme with United States

The Do­mini­ca gov­ern­ment con­firmed on Wednes­day that five Colom­bian na­tion­als de­port­ed by the Unit­ed States un­der the third coun­try na­tion­als pro­gramme have since re­turned to their coun­try.

Prime Min­is­ter Roo­sevelt Sker­rit told a news con­fer­ence that Roseau had con­clud­ed all arrange­ments with Wash­ing­ton re­gard­ing the pro­gramme and that “the Unit­ed States sent us a first list of peo­ple, and we did not ac­cept those names, and they sub­se­quent­ly sent us a sec­ond list of peo­ple to choose from.

“Nor­mal­ly they give you a list to choose from and we se­lect­ed five peo­ple. They’re all five Colom­bians and they came in­to Do­mini­ca, and they’ve all left and re­turned to Colom­bia. So, there were five Colom­bians who came in and in a quick time they left Do­mini­ca and they went to Colom­bia. It was very fast,” Sker­rit told re­porters.
