Hours after the government outlined an ambitious programme of diplomatic engagements to be undertaken by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda this week, plans for her attendance have been reversed.
Persad-Bissessar was earlier today lauded for her administration’s “proactive foreign policy agenda” to be advanced by her attendance and participation in the biennial intergovernmental summit in a release authored by the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs. Moments ago, an official release from the Office of the Prime Minister however stated that she would not be attending the meeting as previously announced.
It offered no explanation for the reversal.
