(CNN) A Russian drone struck the main railway station in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro as people waited to board a train on Thursday morning, killing 14 people.
Another 10 people were wounded in the strike, the latest in a series of Russian attacks on transport and energy infrastructure in Ukraine that have exacted a heavy civilian toll. At least 19 people including two 15-year-old girls were killed across the country on Thursday, authorities said. “These are deliberate strikes against civilians, brazen in their cruelty, and the Russians are carrying them out right as the humanitarian operation in Oleshky is unfolding,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an X post Thursday afternoon.
Russia and Ukraine have since Tuesday been observing a ceasefire in the southern region of Kherson brokered by first lady Melania Trump to allow urgently needed humanitarian aid into the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky.
